The City of Stuttgart is supporting ten other innovative climate projects and MAHLE chargeBIG is also involved. With the “Stuttgart Island – chargeBIG18 Off Grid” project, MAHLE chargeBIG aims to establish and operate a grid-independent charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.
With new imaginative ideas, Stuttgart is continuing its course towards climate neutrality. The Stuttgart Climate Innovation Fund has a budget of 13 million euros and is the largest municipal climate innovation fund in Europe. chargeBIG was nominated for the funding project in the field of “Mobility: Development of charging infrastructure”.
With the “Stuttgart Island – chargeBIG18 Off Grid” project, MAHLE chargeBIG aims to establish and operate a grid-independent charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. For example, locations without sufficient grid connection, such as sports fields, tennis courts and other leisure facilities, are to be identified and equipped with a grid-independent charging infrastructure, where a combination of photovoltaic system and battery storage provides the electricity. The chargeBIG charging system is set up at two locations in Stuttgart – one with twelve and one with six charging points.
